The Northern Territory Rogaining Association presents….
|
The Campus Caper
NTU Palmerston 6-hour Metrogaine Saturday, 23rd February 2002, 3–9pm |
What’s it about? Teams of two to five people navigate on foot through the streets and parks of Palmerston to as many control points as possible, and return in less than six hours. Teams will answer multiple-choice questions based on observations and information at the control points to gain points – the team with the most points wins! But it’s not all about winning - it's fun, exercise, working as a team, navigation, discovering the Palmerston you don't know!
Where? The Hash House (administration and start/finish area) will be located at the Palmerston campus of Northern Territory University. Maps of the area, showing the control locations, will be issued to competitors on the day of the event. Maps will be available to competitors for route planning from 1.00 pm on the day.
What do I need? A recommended list of items is: comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, watch, water bottle(s), waterproof pen or fine texta (to record answers, and for route planning), plastic bags (e.g. ziploc) or “contact” plastic covering for map, food (if you want something to eat during the event), money (if you want to visit shops, pubs or cafes on the way for physical and psychological nourishment!), insect repellent, torch, swimming costume (needed for some point scoring!). For map preparation, items such as highlighters and coloured pens may be useful.
What’s included? For the entry fee each team member will receive a pre-printed map of Palmerston, showing the control locations. A light barbeque, with vegetarian options, will be provided after the event, and is included in the event cost.
Enquiries? Jon Potter 8941 1059 (h), John Ulrichsen 8948 1187 (h).
